On behalf of the Kuranui College Board of Trustees I would like to welcome everyone back to the start of the new college year. I would also like to welcome those of you who are joining us for the first time either as a student/family or member of staff.
This year will be extremely busy with a number of major events on the college calendar. As well as the reunion at Easter, the much anticipated building work will commence. This will begin with modifications to E Block prior to the demolition of C block aimed for later in April and the start of construction of the new state of the art teaching facility. This is stage one of a total revamp of the college planned over the next 5 years. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption.
On another note this is also the year for Board of Trustee Elections. I would like to urge you all to consider standing for election. This is a very worthwhile role and provides an opportunity for you to be involved in setting the strategic direction for the college. The role of the Board of Trustee is that of governance not day to day management of the college – this is left in the capable hands of the Principal and the Senior Management team. If you are considering standing for election feel free to come along to the monthly Board of Trustee meetings to get a feel for what is involved, alternatively please feel free to ring me on 06 3089215 if you wish to discuss further.
Finally at the end of last year the Board of Trustee ratified the college Charter for 2010 – 2012. Thank you to all of you who participated in the consultation process. I would urge you all to have a look at the Charter and the goals and feel free to make further comment. This is a living document and the Board of Trustee welcomes feedback at anytime.
